Screenplay !!!

People go to movies. Some for entertainment , some for chewing and puking pop corns, some with ulterior motives, some to get pass of the official prissiness. What is the reason it takes you to the movie hall? Well, that’s not the intension of the post, well related.

People nowadays write posts, status quotes in social networking sites and in personal blogs about the movie which acts as mass marketing thanks to the fact called word of mouth. I believe the majority of movie goers depend on outcome of the movie in these social networking sites before deciding to watch the movie and plus we have critics for each and every primetime news channels who rates the movie.

When analyzing these facts, and a vivid movie goer who watches movies not for entertainment but for passion of this medium, looking the making as an art, I would like to portray some facts.

Movies win or lose mainly because of its screenplay. Differentiating screenplay of movies having effect on its success can be attributed to simple fact that whether the common median man is able to understand the screenplay or whether majority of people puke on the screenplay for its repetitiveness and boredom. Maniratnam can be awarded for these above mentioned theories with Dil se and example of former and Raavan being example of latter.

Commercialization of cinema to accompany a tag of Indian-ness pushing songs and dance into it is also a bane. But this is boon if rightly used. It’s a double edge of sword and act of filmmaking is powerful and fate lies in its craftsman.

The acquaintance about film making is great and ‘aam junta’ has started talking about screenplay, editing, shot composition, camera angle and other finer aspects of movie making. With composting and preprocessing , story board writing has been digitalized and amount of time and money invested in post-production of a movie has been equaled in script detailing. This gives avid scope of any director or screenplay writer to channelize his vision.

I could see many passionate movie makers fail to capitalize on the nice plot they have due to poor screenplay.

When you watch any shooting, you will hear director saying Start, Action, Take. Whenever a shoot of a scene starts director will say as ?Action? and this has a hidden meaning. A movie needs action and not mere words as dialogues. No director will say as Start, Speak, Take. Some mega serial directors may say like that but cinema needs action”. -- words of Sujatha http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sujatha_Rangarajan

This also raises one more question which is fathomably  true. What is a difference between a director and a screenplay writer. Director makes a reality out of story-play written on the paper.

If this is true as who we are, the importance of any movies’ success should be of screenplay writer and not the director. I could see that in Hollywood flicks, and not in Indian movies is it because we have all in one mechanism. All in one mechanism of story screenplay dialogue direction by one person. Why there is no scope of specialization here?

Only by appreciating good movies you will get to see more good movies my friends.

Nomadic journey

Nomadic Journey….

People after reading this post might feel self is a lunatic barbarian. People , I expect this statement. I’m one.

Let’s rewind the time machine, getting into nostalgic mode remembering the best experience you had, I have this travelogue to put forth. This in any case is not a travelogue. This is part of  search of Realm called life episodic series. You can see other experiences in my previous posts , trip to Gaumukh/Tapovan.

People before jamming comments section by questions what made you to do this, the answer is simple. Want to live a life I want.

Time : some time in 2008 mid. Place : Hyderabad.

People Involved : Myself and my Schoolmate/College mate/Ex-employer Colleague/my dear friend who quit this industry just to travel.

Friday evening , we reached our apartment (we stay in single apartment, not in same house) post dinner, discussing the days official work and passing around comments, he suddenly said, how about a nomadic journey. Nomadic means travelling journey conspires to trip, what he indented to say, I quizzed. He said, Lets go to a place which we will never decide of going, catch the firsts of firsts and extend our trip. I said fine.

We packed our Rucksacks, with couple of changeable yet lightweight clothes, necessary amenities, wallet carrying 1k Cash, Debit card , Pan card , CC and Office ID card. Said Bye to respective roomies and left. Our plan was to spend as less we can, travel as cheap as we can, eat as less as we can, never book any tickets, take pics, talk to as much people we can.   One more point was decided , no travelling south.

We went to secunderabad railway station asked the ticket counter fellow what is next train heading north and when it is , he said last train to north just left to Jaipur, then my quizzing mind asked the fellow, if we can catch next train to Warangal, he said the train shall start, we took two unreserved tickets to Warangal, ran and caught the speeding train. Sat down near the walk way, talking about movies, places etc.

Then we started playing games, Snake in his 1108, one game after the other with one rupee bet. My self and him , are known for one rupee bet for anything and everything, we even play Playing Cards throughout night for one rupee bet, I have large collection of one rupee so does he.

We reached Warangal and in the ticket counter, spared 1k note to book two unreserved ticket to where ever next train goes. The train was grand trunk and we took ticket to Delhi. Myself lived in Delhi, both of us roamed Delhi like our walkway to office, decided to get down at Jhansi.
The fellow in counter asked he shall book a berth which is available , we laughed at him and said give us unreserved ticket.

The experience of travelling to Jhansi from Waranagal was classic. A whole day, meeting lot of people, teaching a boy basic Maths, talking to fellow about Software engineering, basic man to man explanation of our day to day life… explaining to a women for a question she asked, bout life of a typical Chennai women, playing trump cards(WWE CARDS), My First fag (Bidi) in a running train (don’t jump on me for illegality, I want to experience) , eating Poori and chenna (sundal) in a take away in platform in Balarshah, Eating oranges in Nagpur, bought a Hindu paper, read it from word to end, man I had world of time and patience , (Re lived a place where I did my schooling KV KAMPTEE NAGPUR).

One more experience was running into chained compartments from front to lost, seeing all kinds of passengers , When the compartment was closed , catch the next coach in next stop. People , I must admit, color of Life and India are Vast, you have to lose your comfort level to experience this. When I saw a Gal in her teens, with GunGhat, foot boarding and crying, I could imagine only one thing, while in travel you can see many faces of joy and sorrow, one much understand that same thing happens in your life and one has to adjust by this fact.

Though ticket was bought till Delhi, we never wanted to reach Delhi, we got down in Jhansi, asking ourselves what is in store for us. My friend asked me how about Gorakpur and Nepal, I said to him, our plan was to un plan if our fate takes us there , we shall.

The Same episode of Ticket counter repeated and we landed up in a train to Jaipur. This time in the compartment , we noticed an extended Rajasthani family, so accommodating . We after a huge nap, raised head  in Jaipur station.

The rest is how we enjoyed the rest of life of 3 days in Rajasthan .

We were back to Hyderabad in weeks’ time.

All these 9 days, we both enjoyed in streets of India, met numerous people, understood cultures, beaten once,  talking and understood ourselves, our friendship grew longer and stronger post this trip. People, Don’t be in your comfort zone, I learnt it, you know it. Explore this incredible life in Incredible India.

PS: Guys , at least once in lifetime plan a unplanned trip.
PS1: My experience made a huge stamp , proving, life is to be lived. Don’t complain of anything and everything.

Don’t say ever I’m getting bored. Life of 24 hrs a day is never enough.

Weekend Movies : Outlook

Films are my forte of writing. Every now and then , if nothing is there to write about , I write about movies. Y so? After self-querying I found that , movies are the only thing apart from travel , I’m interested. Why so? It thanks to my circle of friends who devoted movie watching itself as an art, a passion for wanting good movies, Cinema as an art, a medium to explore society. It is true , Movies are chanceless medium to depict what we are. I see and visualize my parents upbringing and society and those of their parents with movies relating to that age. Isn’t it true?

Having said that, this weekend I watched movies which were long pending. Sound at last gave my Hard disk and the 48 hour slot called weekend hosted movies such as Karate Kid, Taken, Hum Tum  and the topic of today Engeyum Epodhum.

Karate Kid was nothing less than classic with great acting by Chan and Jaden. Though we have seen lot of coach and win movies , this is special to me as I m a great fan of Chan. Hence less said is enough bout this movie as this is really a great movie.

Taken, Though I started watching this movie many times , something comes and makes me to give it a miss. This time thanks to my friend Kishore, I decided to watch. This movie is what is called Screenplay and Editing. Chanceless. Period.

Hum tum, typical Yash Raj. Less said is enough as there is nothing there in the movie a typical movie with fixed bandwidth of Emotional journey , fist happiness then sad looped for two odd hours , with songs and emotions attached. I got bored. Why did Government of India Gave National Award to Saif (If given).

Well Coming to Engeyum Epodhum. (Everywhere Always).

I know Porselvan shall be very angry on me , because I’m watching this movie almost after 3 months of its release and also after hos great review. If someone can copy the link of Selva here it will be great.
Said that , I m not going to review it as it is 3 months dead meat, I would plausibly explain points I liked.

I really dare/salute the belief of the director who provided the climax in first reel and explained the story afterwards. This itself shows Tamil movie and Industry has evolved and going in right direction.

The Screenplay of a storyline which is thin shows the greatness and skills of director. Explaining the Drama folded behind two pairs with sliding screenplay proves director’s smart work as minute slip might have been called blunder.

I particularly smiled laughed felt the scenes where the hero escorts the heroine to the Campus for attending interview. The innocence clearly displayed. Anjali , I have become a fan of her with jai playing soft role shows the power of casting.

Though I doubt will there be anyone who will leave his official duty for a strange girl, I liked the atmosphere.

Whatever Porselvan said bout driving back home after watching the movie is true, I even feel now.

AT least these two parts of story excluding the Climax , I will watch many times.

My eagerness to watch movie didn’t stop there, I even did Watch Sami Part II amalgamated with Tirupachi ... Yeah Vedi. I was not bored as I forwarded the songs.

Planning to watch nanban today.

Nanban : Honest review

Nanban : Honest Remake of Three idiots.

Director Shankar,Cast includes Vijay, Srikanth, Jeeva, Illena , Sathyan and our own Sathyaraj. SJ Suryah in Special Appearance.

Cinematography By VTV Fame Manoj. Music by Harris Jeyaraj. Editing by Antony

This movie is honest remake of 3 Idiots which in turn is a adapted version of Five point someone by Chetan Bhagath. Shankar as said in an interview didn’t tamper with screenplay and maintained the original to almost extent. Even maintained costumes locales and editing. Appreciate this, having known for his works, he gets accolades for maintaining the screenplay. This shows his respect for others work. Given an opportunity he would have marveled the screenplay. Shankar is undoubtedly among the elite directors in Indian Cinema , Next to Mani and Bala in my list of Elite Directors.

This review shall only contain aspects of film making and shall not involve in story as its open.

I need to admit that watching a film which I have read as a novel and watched in Hindi, to watch in Tamil my native language, its special as I could relate to more easily.

Particularly when Vijay Vasanth sings the song with guitar , it touched me more than Give me sunshine.

Cinematography is neat if not classic like VTV. Editing for Anthony shall be a cake walk, for his caliber giving a existing work and asking him to edit shall be very easy.

Music , except Non Lip Sing songs nothing carried out of the hall. Expected more from Harris Jayaraj. He disappointed me again in a row post 7 Am arivu. I feel the decline of Harris is on cards.

I get a feeling in the first half all the actors choose to imitate their peers from 3 idiots and in second half they did on their own. Isn’t it true?

Vijay looked / acted classic in parts and looked buffoon in parts. Jeeva gave consistent work but for me Sharman Joshi remained in my heart for his natural acting and lingo.

I know we shouldn’t compare but I’m helpless.

I wished Maddy to play his part but Srikanth did a decent job. Illena is worst heroine of Shankar till date. I don’t understand why and who the hell did dubbing for her. It was what Nargis Fakri to Rockstar is, thanks to filthy dubbing. I better wished Kareena to do the role at least she would have done justification with proper dubbing by someone else. Female Lead Dubbing has become head ache in Indian Movie Industry of late.

Sathyaraj was perfect replica of Bommie Irani both in acting and style and magnificence , repetition of the bent tongue accent become weird when repeated numerous times.

Sathyan was classic.

SJ SURYAH and other guests did their part well.

One thing I noticed in Casting. All the supporting actors , right from College senior in first reel to SJ SURYAH , Illena’s sister have been casted with looks similar to original version. Mona singh – Anuya , Javed Jafferi – SJ Suryah , College Senior etc look similar. Is this was intentional ?

Song in second half when drunken Muniyamma kisses Vijay is unwarranted.

One thing I would say when concluding. Vijay has shown some interest in repairing his damanged career and name. Better for kollywood if it continues.

For those who watched 3 idiots and even read Five point someone, this will be Ok Nice Good. For those who didn’t would say Fantabulous.

Watch it once you will never regret.

Unheard Voice , Vibrations Secret in Life

Sometime life teaches you in messy  circumstances that what is needed and what isn’t. My peers usually remark these following words stating the life replies to your questions through situations and incidents in real life. You ask question to yourself and you shall be hell lot of confused , ten steps you walk in front and the situation you are in is the answer to your question. Spiritually speaking one can say , the God has replied to you. On the contrary , people say that the vibration in your question extracts answers from others and provides you a solution.

One might be in the situation of getting an answer of confused mind from unknown and un related situations making him to do what the solution might be and he gets success and he thanks to the unknown voice/hand for helping.

There are incidents like you being a traveller of a possible to be missed train and you are running in another mode of transport to catch it and you feel pissed of annoying and thinking of missing the train and suddenly a voice nearby talking to someone in his mobile says… “Koi Gal Nahi, you will Catch”.  Eventually you shall catch the train and you thank the fellow for providing the answer. This happens to each and everyone here. No one here can deny the fact of taking decisions based on the supernatural or un related voice. Isn’t?

Vibrations physics science can be a reason. If it’s not proved, well it isn’t science. Then whether these voices provide you Confidence or Energy to catch the train, attain destination (Literal and metaphorical) .

Fact is this.

We human , when nothing is in our hand (Driving of the bus and traffic in this case) tend to either pray to go fast or pray to start the train late. Metaphorically , when our wish doesn’t wish true , either we tend to wish success of our need or delay the result providing more time to work hard and get success.

These times, any truth in the form of Voice, situation provides us confidence and if same thing happens we relate either to God or to the person in direct we thank him.

Hence, believe there is vibrations of voices that we relate to ourselves which are in fact not related, thus providing either confidence to reach to our destination or providing us time and strength to complete the non-completed thing.

PS: Just a thought.

Agneepath : Review

Agneepath , 2012 Film directed by Karan Malhotra and Produced by Dharma Productions based on a movie with same name Produced by Yash Johar and directed by Mukul S Anand starring Amit uncle.

The movie has famous lines written by HarivanshRai Batchan in the poem Agneepath which has been said both in start and in the climax by the protagonist.

When comparing with original , MithunDa roles has been removed and Rauf Lala played by Rishi Kapoor has been included. Hence there is some change in the script.

The story is typical Revenge after grow story where Vijay’s Character takes revenge for his Father’s death who was hanged by Kancha played by Sanjay Baba.

Story has been discussed a lot and I’m going to emphasis only on the positives and negatives in the movie.

Powerful acting by Sanjay Dutt , Hrithik and Rishi Kapoor with Om Puri rightly doing what is cake walk for him. No meaty role for PG , Zarina did with to play the role of Susheela.

Songs were great to see when visualized particularly the song when Rauf Lala’s son is about to get married and the "Deva Shree Ganesha" song. Back ground music is one of the best in recent times.

Screenplay is week in parts and is suddenly flashes and then again becomes dull. The screenplay is moved by performances by actors and this part alone in the movie has to be changed, iFeel.

Sanjay Baba gets salute from me for his ruthless performance though my expectations was huge , somewhere I feel he didn’t do a Gabbar singh when he had an opportunity to do so.

The art direction of erecting a complete set in diu was visible and I thank Sabu Cyril who in my opinion is no 1 in Production design in India at present.

Cinematography looks classic at least for the dark scenes in mandwa And crowded places in Dongri … "Deva Shree Ganesha" Cinematography will live in my eyes for sure.

Ravi K Chandran and one more fellow (I don’t remember the name) have done a perfect job .

Chikni Chameli was fine , I m not impressed thanks to countless time I have watched…

The Dialogues were a downer I feel. Though there were lot of montages , places where dialogues needed to be crisp weren’t. The area should have been improved particularly it is a Revenge Gang war story.

I would definitely vouch to see the movie and I feel it as a great start for Bollywood this year (At least for me)

Don’t miss this. Go Mind-blind and you will enjoy.

Life ends before it starts...

Sajda was sitting in the first seat of the Company bus en route to office.  To describe her way of living will be similar to describe the word loquaciousness that proved she was energetic and go on the run kind of girl. Any damn fellow will be running for her throughout his life just to get mesmerized by her free falling hair and gorgeous eye, the only two things men get most crazy of by seeing any women.
Years ago, when I got first re-located here and took on the firsts of journeys in my third home, my bus, which shifts us from our locality to office and back, the day when my eyes stopped to twinkle and my mind ceased to think post describing her beauty with every passerby, I felt sarcastically that there is nothing extraordinary about her just making me feel the other way inside.  I was infuriated most of the times by her so called childish behavior never suited for corporate life. But gone are the days when our colleagues shall be strict and of villainous nature. Industry we are in makes us to work with those characters that are rarely qualified for sixth grade based on their way of living. Being Childish.
Not even I was allocated in my first project I proposed to Sajda. There is one thing I must admit on. Men never think twice before deciding the girl and will never think even once to make them happy. For men, feeling the gal happy is only thing they know. My age was to feel romantic and I was romantic in every way I possibly could. I was never a person who knows to hide the emotions in heart and particularly when the gal who swept you of the feet and made you to jump topsy-turvy sits next to your cubicle, I wasn’t able to and hence spelt the three beautiful words assuring her that life for me was her and I was determined to make her life blissfully happy.
Happiest times were those which not only proved productive in love life but also officially getting our due of recognition. Spending coffee time and travel was most beautiful when we could well imagine years of our future. Literally and metaphorically we were together either in office or through phone calls, even in dreams, dreaming about a love story each of them playing the lead roles.
Sajda improved her way of living while with me from being childish to getting matured when demanded. She started taking decisions of life time which proved great for our future and ironic when we laughed over popcorn thinking the state of childishness she was earlier.
I used to dream about my future, my better half, and the way every fellow dreams of. For most of them it might have been a passing memory, for luckiest folks like me, time will come when we see that as a reality. She loved me as much as I loved her rather I love her. I would embrace her tightly and kiss her whenever I feel deserted. Shoulder for me is the only thing I rely upon to wipe my sadness. She might not be an angel for others, for me she was and is, might be no one borrowed my eyes to see her.  We never hesitated to shed our ego to be normal again. There wasn’t a day when I didn't get up with a smiling face to see her smiling face that was ready with a cup of filter coffee.

Those times went on for 4 years. But then, the inevitable happened. She became indifferent, impassive and her cheerful personality had diminished. "What happened to her"? I asked myself...Gradually, she diminished her phone calls to me. I tried cajoling her to talk to me but to no avail. Then, after weeks of cajoling, she finally told me that she had changed (she didn't know why, it just came all of a sudden). She told me that our characters do not match and sad to say that we should not continue the relationship. She implied that I'm a person who does not care much about the world around me (which is quite true as I don't trust friends and I'm quite a loner) She also said that there are small little things that also add up to her discontent. I was shocked and shattered ... I didn't know that she felt that way all this time... Well, I knew about my weaknesses but I thought that she accepted them. I cried and showed not the tears but the affection I still had in my heart. She said that it’s better for us to separate rather than go deeper into an unhappy relationship than is destined to failure (which is, sad to say, true). I am still in a deep depressed state. It’s been 2 years since she broke up with me...

I hoped to be with her again every second. It’s actually not her fault. She was doing the only sensible thing (to break up before we go any deeper). Sometimes, I feel like life is fragile.....

A beautiful thing like love can be ended abruptly that feels like a precious thing had been taken away from me...

Ladies Vs Ricky Bah Review

Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl is a about a Womanizer and Con Man who traps women and loots them with precision romanticism  and about revenge of three girls who plan a plot hiring a sales women friend. Climax proves who changes the idealism the protagonist or the Hired woman. As simple as pouring a local arrack in Costly Italian Wine Bottle to look dramatic romantic and designer one, new style used in bollywood.
The trend of taking a old plot , put a designer brand label shine it with typical youth lingo, hot shots and chasy screenplay is not new in bollywood and Director has perfectly done it. I should appreciate the director for his making style which is almost similar to Band Baja Bharaat.

Talking about the movie, Movie starts in Delhi where Ranveer flirts and traps a gal using family sentiments, Purani Haveli and etc and loots twenty lakhs. Next He travels to Bombay to cheat a Manager stating Hussains Art work. When that is media exposed another gal along with the Delhi gal shares the agony with the Bombay gal to confirm the three were robbed by same fellow. These three, hire Anushka Sharma, a talented Saleswoman Friend of the Bombay gal and plan to cheat Ranveer. The rest of the story falls in how Anushka Sharma plots the cheat Ranveer and does she falls in love with the conman or he falls for her, does these three girls get there money back is the climax.

Positives : Not bad screenplay , Nice acting and looks of Ranveer and Anushka, The Delhi gal(I don’t remember who is she) she is cute ,looks like girl next door and she is superb in acting , iAPPRECIATE, Nice editing and locations. Never feel bored making(though it’s a old wine in a new bottle) Cinematography was classic and suits the storyline
Negatives:  OLD CRAP CONMAN STORY , using baazigar dialog was sick, Har Kar zithne waale ko Baazigar kahte hain… How cum a big conman get Looted so cheapish  sinks logic in most part, Music not so great BG not mesmerizing.

I liked the cinematography in parts where montages were used, Goa looked sexy as usual.

Watchable if you more interested in pop corn than movie… But having said that, positives for Ranveer and the director to scale up in industry is more…Time PASS Entertainment from YASH RAJ FILMS.

OSTHE

Osthe , Dabaang Remake, Tamil version of a movie that created history in Box Office Collection,  is a Frame by Frame remake of original directed by Dil DHool Gilli Fame Dharani and acted by Young Superstar STR.  This movie is about a Police Inspector how he tangles with the badie and destroys him completely who has in course of getting elected in By-election kills STR’s mother. This story also revolves around emotional drama of Step Father ,Step Brother Mother Son relationship.
Positives : Non Changed Screenplay from the original, Acted of Simbu and Sonu Sood, Some times Clicking Comedy and timing of Comedians including Santhanam,Thambi Ramayya and Mailsami, Editing, Music to some extend.
Negatives : Little draggy pre climax and No Scope for heroine, Same monotonous Fight songs sequences and even locations. Some non bursting PJ (Poor Jokes),CINEMATOGRAPHY is bad

This movie is MASS, People who expect some logic and sense in subject don’t watch, if you want three hour time pass and entertainment, you can watch.
Though I like , I wish these mass entertainers are killing film industry and the standard of it. What to do, People Like it and the producers get money and hence they invest back on Mass entertainers. Any Time better that STR’s Counterpart Mass Movies.
Will Never create same magic as SALMAN as STR is STR SALMAN is SALMAN.
For Sure it will miss the DABAANG MAGIC.
OSTHE = SILAMBATTAM

Panjaa : Telugu Movie a Review

Panjaa a Telugu Movie starring Pawan Kalyan and directed by Vishnuvardhan is the movie I'm going to review now. Yuvan scoring music with Sreekar Prasad editing and PS Vinod handling the camera completes the crew. Its a Gang War Kind of movie with the protagonist being brought up by Jackie Shroff is loyal to his master. Like his brother films and a film of his own Pawan Kalyan chooses to act a role mostly based in Kolkatta. I smell there is something between Chiru family and Kolkatta. Atul Kulkarni starts his own Dada-Gangster-Kirana Shop after being Loyal to Jackie and hence becomes Badie II. Tanikella Bharni as Guruvaiya has done a decent job. Munna son of Jackie returns from Foreign just to be a bad guy a spoilt brat, a sadist enough to kill a gal and psycho enough to insult his fathers Henchmen and loyal-men. Then thanks to turn of events the power shifts from Jackie's hand to Atul's Gang making Pawan Kalyan a scapegoat killing his friends. Pawan Kalyan escapes to Sandhya's place (Yeah sorry forgot to mention ,Pawan kalyan's Love interest) to safeguard her. There is one more Goonda here.Pawan Kalyan kills him too. Well enough of RE Viewing the story lets get into critic shoes.

Movie story is collaboration of multiple Hollywood,Hindi,Telugu and Tamil movies. Vishnuvardhan is in Billa Mood of making old movies this time without crediting for. Screenplay by Rahul Koda (Who is he?) is worst. First half was literally irritating with three odd sick songs and a fight or two. Introduction of Pawan Kalyan is worst. Movie gives a punching (at least compared to boring first half) Interval block only to lose its speed in second half when story moves to the village. Only relief being short visit of Bhramanandam ,one of the greatest Comedy Actor ever to be seen in Indian Screen. Director has instituted a song for Bhramanandam making himself not believing his own script. Climax is what the the fight between Pawan kalyan and once loyal DADA(read as bro or Goonda for Jackie).

Sreekar prasad Most National award winning Editor failed to impress me. PS VINOD has not even delivered what he delivered in Tees Mar Khan. Yuvans worst performance. The bearded look of Pawan is worst when compared to my Bearded look I say. Sarah Dias Jones is below average heroines doesn know how to emote making her sick. The second heroine Anjali is better when compared to leading lady atleast she acted better than SDJ.

This movie has no potential of making it into a decent screenplay as plot was week and hence all departments fell as a pack of cards.

This movie can even say remake of his own film Balu and I dont remember the second one. Remake of His dad's movie being a Do gooder with a flash  back village story. GOD Please make sure I dont go to his movie again. I would have better watched tomo's Booked movies OSTHE and LADIES Vs Ricky

Please don't watch even in Pirated DVDs. Watch Vijays movie if you want.

Mayakkam Enna Review

Mayakkam Enna , Tamil movie directed by Selvaraghavan, Dhanush and Richa playing lead roles, Ramji Kola Bhaskar GV completing the technical Team.
The story of Mayakkam enna is simple, Life of Wildlife Photographer, How the protagonist manages to Travel his life of being a Wild life photographer from a man with Photography as passion, Friends they have, the gal he accidently loves and marriages, plagiarism of his work, hatred, depression, suicide attempt, semi lunatic, power of women , pinnacle of life... This is the story as simple as candy.

With a close look to Selva’s previous films , there won’t be any difference of zero to hero kind of stories. This one is also a typical narration of his previous films. These films as his previous films are not for fun going audiences. Though the script calls for a mass, the narration and the way of filming describes as Class.

Straight away without re-viewing the story I emphasis on the positives and negatives of the movie. When talking about the positives , first thing comes to my mind is the narration and the way of film making which gives way scope to the actors, technicians to perform. That is very important and Selva has always mastered it. Ramji photography is classical as the story demands the same. The still shots and the montages when Dhanush explores forest are visual treat. Coloring and Tone is splendidly maintained throughout the movie. The Visuals in songs are classical. I don’t know why the entire movie was short in Bokeh style giving a blur or shallow depth to shots making it more appealing.

I Tweeted to Ravi K Chandran , stating the classical cinematography of Ramji. He replied stating that he was always Ramjis fan for his raw and real cinematography. That’s true. Paisa Vasool for the photography in the movie.

Dhanush proves he is a performer. His style and power of acting as a want to be photographer, sensual emotions, drunkenness, aspirations, shall do whatever to achieve goal feeling, psycho and lunatic acting, climax acceptance is performed with chanceless energy. He deserves applause.

Richa has seldom role to perform in first half and has shown tremendous power in second half. Displaying women power, and the acting is flawless. She is hot , thanks to cameraman.

Kola bhaskar has proved he is veteran. To master the art of editing with the shots given by Ramji is no mere work and Kola Bhaskar has challenged and won. I salute him.

Lack of BGM in first half makes you feel the screenplay is draggy but it is not so. Main theme music is played/re recorded multiple times in the movie with different tempos and levels is great. Songs suits in well and I liked it.
Places the dialogues are crossed over the limit, but that’s what typical Selva is. He makes for people next door and thats true.
Again , I confirm that this movie is not for Fun, its classic , its powerful.
My Rating : 4/5 Better than 7 AM review.

kathal Pyar Vairamuthu Gulzar

Love  is defined the best  in Tamil: தன்னை  மறந்த  நிலையில்  உருவாகும்  உணர்வு .
Meaning : Love is a feeling which happens only when one cant realize himself.

A spontaneous feeling of (overpowering earnest longing) attachment  (to God, a being, an object or an idea) that shapes up while you are in a state of forgetting yourself  and contemplating on the beauty and perfection of  God, the object, being or an idea. True love is a surge in feeling of becoming one with a being, an object or an idea.

Ancient Tamil poet and scholar திருவள்ளுவர்   (Tiruvalluvar) has described the Concept of Love in different stages in his collection of 1330 Thirukurals. Namely the chapters that explain Love are  களவியல் ( Surreptitious Love.  Verses 1081-1150) கற்பியல் (Monogamous Marital bliss. Verses 1151-1330) காமத்துப்பால் ( Treatise on Sexual love -  Verses 1081-1330 )

According to Arabic literature, there are seven stages of love.

हब – attraction, उन्स  – Infatuation, इश्क -  Love, अकीदत – Reverence, इबादत – worship, जूनून – obsession, मौत – death

The philosophy of Love mentioned in any form of literature and by anyone in any generation is common and substantial to any generation and walk of life. The language might be different but the glory of Love remains same.

Hub as defines as attraction is defined as   desirability, Lure or a pull towards you.  “Annalum nokinal avalum nokinal ” from the famous kambaramayanam is an exact example for this stage. The attraction of desire , the lure is sophisticated by the pair of eyes, intensity in the feel and the beauty beyond imagination.

The Lines of Vairan (Vairamuthu, My Teacher) is best suited here.

கைகள் நான்கும் தீண்டும் முன்னே
கண்கள் நான்கும் தீண்டிடுமே
மோகம் கொஞ்சம் முளை விடுமே ,கண் பார்வை முதல் நிலையே

Translation : Before the quartet of hands collage, two pairs of eyes meet. Seldom passion sprouts up, attraction with eyes is the first stage.

The similar lines of Gulzar says, the touch of eyes (sight), created slight attraction. The heart started feeling the attraction.

आन्खोने  ने  कुछ  ऐसा  छुआ  हल्का  हल्का  उन्स  हुआ
हल्का  हल्का  उन्स  हुआ  दिल  को  महसूस  हुआ

Powerful lines of Mirza Ghalib has been used here. He compares the feeling of love as uncontrollable fire which is very difficult to be lit and once lit cannot be extinguished.

इश्क  कर  जोर  नहीं  है  ये  वोह  आतिश  ग़ालिब
जो  लगाये    लगे  और  बुझाये    बने

Second stage of Love is infatuation. What I feel is no one can understand love who has not experienced infatuation. And no one can understand infatuation, no matter how many times he has experienced it. Vividly described by Vairan as

ஆருயிரே என்னுயிரே உள்ளம் கொண்டது  ஊர்  மயக்கம்
இன்னுயிரே காதலில் இரண்டாம் நிலை தான் பால் மயக்கம்

And Hence people feel this as highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to wrinkle.

Gulzar Challenges Vairan here saying

छूती  है  मुझे  सरगोशी  से
आँखों  में  घुली  खामोशी  से
मैं  फर्श  पे  सजदे  करता  हूँ
कुछ  होश  में  कुछ  बेहोशी  से

Acme of Life is Love, says Vairan. These lines vividly describes the summit the person shall be reaching in his feeling. Vairan arues with Gulzar stating “Amrith (sacred water) flows thr my veins , my life is experiencing a new kind of pain unique only to me”.

This stage is most heavenly and zenith of all stages. Post this stage the concept of advaita peeps in. The Feeling of oneness starts to flow and the process of destruction of self is started.

நாங்கம்  நிலை”(Fourth stage) is clearly depicted by Vairan in these lines.

Having said that, I have serious questions here. Why does Love between the Genders of Homo sapiens is difficult to reach way point beyond the Stage three unless in seldom cases where the motive is of self-destruction of ego?

This stage crossing beyond third stage can never be possible unless there are so many obsessions having no means of realness and practicality. Satisfied Love can’t be in search of junoon , the பித்து  நிலை (Lunatic Stage).

As said, the stages superior to Junoon needs high amount of energy and passion to sustain and reach the atman , prime reason to live. Well interesting point is the amount of power of mind to revert back to normal stage is enormous than to complete this stage thus making the completion of stage possible only if there is passion. The Raag-ic sutras explained in Yoga sutras also accepts this philosophy .

A Combined explanation of these stages is very much needed. Reverence and worship goes hand in hand. With respect Comes worship. Sajda is the right word for the same. Conversion of Dvaita to Advaita starts only when there is complete respect for the Being. This being can always be representation of God, Brahminism, Love, Devotion for anything and everything experienced in nature.

This Line is my favorite of Vairan. "நான்  உன்  கையில்  நீர்  திவலை" meaning I m a vessel in your hands.

मेरा  जीना  जूनून  मेरा  मरना  जूनून
अब  इसके  सिवा  नहीं  कोई  सुकून

“I have forget the direction of rising sun,I started worshiping you”. Worshiping your beloved, god etc means complete oneness , “सजदा”. Submission means Sajda.

என்  உடல்  பொருள்  தந்தேன் ”. I would regard this as complete submission. Sajda. These lines makes me to quick remark on the language and literature are one and same with different script. The Feel is the same.

Here the stage one achieves has everything to do to with the feel of Existence as Oneness. Here the person actually relates the self-living with the breathing of object in question.

All these stages are infallible and these stages are been carried devout bhaktas and fanatic theists.

Till Here, the author(S) maintain(s) the sacred steps of Love. The stages , people experience in their life.

The torturous journey starts here where the Junoon (Mania) starts the final process of destruction. This destruction can lead to self destruction of EGO or in cases where there is unquenchable madness in can lead to destruction.

ஒரு  மூகதினால்  வரும்  பித்து  நிலை
இது  மூசமில்லை   ஒரு  முக்தி  நிலை
நம்  காதலிலே  இது  ஆறு  நிலை

Vairan says this stage as பித்து  (Lunatic). And also adds by saying that this stage is a stage of முக்தி Salvation and not dangerous.

The Final Stage of Love is Death. Literal meaning can give raise to obvious reasons of lost and depression and sadness. But universal acceptance of this shall be the destruction of Ego(Fanaa) and Advaita (non Dualism).

If a person chooses these stages for a being , I doubt he can really cross the third stage, As the path thereof with a being shall be too torturous and unquenchable. This path shall be only valid for being if he/ she tries the path of Fanaa the self-destruction of Ego. The non-dualism path and its attainment shall be path of self-enlightenment and the process of Kaivilya (Singularity). The saints of these paths reach the Shirasha of Energy chakra.

Yogic process of attaining Kaivaliya can also be an example of these.

Vairan and Gulzar have impressed me to compare their styles right from Dil se days to Ravaan. They are uncomparable so is the Language they write for.

I would really like to recreate Ghalibs verse here… stating

“He compares the feeling of love as uncontrollable fire which is very difficult to be lit and once lit cannot be extinguished.”

Happy Blogging.
