For me, a train journey is about the countless memories that are polished, comfort of an aircraft can never provide. The sound of wheels kissing rails, the smell of home cooked food that of the guy on the facing berth (he might just offer it you if he realizes that you have been watching), the joy on the face of the little children who waves excitedly at you as the train passes by her house/village, the drop of early morning dew which hangs from the window frame and, before you can react, leaps onto your face! A train compartment is one place where people go Jil-Mil with strangers, talk to each and every one possible out there, share food of the variety one can never expect in any part of the world, tell stories and build friendship... Strange friendship that you forget who he/she is the moment you reach your destination but not the memories. And then there are changing views of landscape, weather outside. It's a pleasure to watch the landscape we leave behind as the train progresses swiftly on its tracks making musiques that not even gr8 ARR can’t make(reciprocate), and wave at children in villages who run out of their dwellings and scream at the speeding train as they wipe their noses.I don’t like it the half conversations I make with a stranger when I m compelled to break down at my destination the way I don’t like when a book ends as it forces me to come back to the real world. A train journey is like life except with the difficult parts taken out! Train journeys do have a romance.
